Open AI recently held
a open house of sorts where locals could come and ask questions, learn more about potential jobs at data centers, tax implications, the environment and how the data center will impact that.
So really just trying to engage more with the community, but they're also
undergoing advertising and lobbying and PR efforts in addition to pumping money into some of these communities, like Mar Mark Zuckerberg recently announced a billion dollar fund.
Called Future is for everyone, which he plans to invest in local communities where Meta has data centers.
But Isabella says it's not clear whether that'll be enough.
Opposition to data centers is still pretty fierce and strong, and I think some of that is tied up in fear that people have around AI generally.
It's becoming
harsh reality that people are facing and they're worried about the impact that AI might have on the economy, their jobs, et cetera.
And part of what tech companies are doing here is trying to educate people on the potential benefits of AI

Part of that is driven by a sort of era of austerity that occurred where streamers were focusing on growing revenue. Part of that was by implementing password-sharing restrictions, which we saw with Netflix in particular. and spending less on original content and introducing ad tiers. And for some streamers, that is really starting to pay dividends.
But we're now in an era for consumers that is potentially even more confusing and complicated than it was before.
