Anyway.
Let's just start from the top.
We've ruined any walk into this story.
Sorry, I immediately fucked that up.
The smell had gotten worse somehow.
When we first walked into the 8th grade boy's restroom, it was only a mild stench, one that you and your buddy acknowledged and then move on.
Within 15 minutes, it had gone from mild to unbearable.
My friend Percy gagged when we walked past the floor drain that was fuming with the smell.
being janitors, were used to all sorts of horrible sights and smells.
Shit filled, backed up toilets, used tampons stuck to the inside of a bagless garbage can, ripped open garbage bags filled with half-eaten lunches now crawling with maggots, you name it.
This was worse somehow.
It was somewhere between rotten eggs and burning hair, but it had some other kind of quality to it, like sweat.
It smelled alive.
Percy and I sprayed air freshener as best we could, but it kept crawling back out of the drain pipe on the floor and expanded in the air.
We might ought to call the gas people.
Couldn't be a leak.
