Dr. Hassan Saeed Shukri from the village of Turmus Ea says Israeli soldiers came to his house and ordered him and his wife to evacuate because they wanted to use the house for military operations.
Shukri alerted local officials who contacted the U.S.
embassy.
About four hours later, the soldiers left.
A State Department spokesperson told NPR that the safety and security of U.S.
citizens overseas is its highest priority.
Shoukry told NPR he asked the soldiers why they had chosen his home, which flies an American flag.
He says they told him the house overlooks an area where the military is operating.
The Israeli military did not respond to NPR's request for comment.

Israel's cabinet secretary, Yossi Fuchs, told a meeting of far-right groups that Hamas has two months to disarm.
He said if Hamas does not lay down all its weapons, then the Israeli military will resume large-scale military operations in Gaza.
This week, Israel's prime minister said this includes Hamas giving up its small arms, including assault rifles.
