Well, our guest today is Paul Feinbaum, and he wasn't around during Yale's glory days.
But if you want to know anything about Alabama football or the SEC in general, then Paul is the person to see.
Known as the voice of the SEC, Feinbaum joined ESPN in August 2013 as the host of the Paul Feinbaum Show, a four-hour daily radio program that's simulcast on the SEC network.
Prior to joining uh ESPN, Feinbaum was the host of the Paul.
Fine Radio Network and a columnist and investigative reporter for newspapers in the early.
Alabama.
Yeah, not just Alabama football, but but Alabama, right?
And and knowing all the the nature that comes with that.
As as he mentioned, he was coming to us just
few blocks or a few minutes away from the Birmingham church that that was bombed in the nineteen sixties.
And and you know, as he said, it's it there there's some certain inescapable facts that that surround you when you're in Alabama and and the interview doesn't shy from those.
Um
You know, he might come off as a Bryant apologist, but I feel like it's he's questioned everything on on every side and he's arrived at this.
I don't think he just was was born into this and feels defensive.
I think he took that journalistic approach of questioning and and that's what's got him to this place.
Yeah, it it can I I noticed when I did go to the the Civil Rights Museum in uh in Birmingham that the part of the uh I Have a Dream speech where he talks about Alabama with its vicious racists and Mississippi sweltering in the heat of oppression, that part was cut out.
I actually listened to it again.
I said, Wait, did uh did I not hear it?
Like they they they kind of snipped that part out.
But again, the fact that the museum exists, the fact that you know you can put your hands on the the jail cell where where Martin Luther King wrote his famous letter, um, I I does to speak to the address.
