Consumers should feel empowered to just pick up the phone and call their utility company and see what kind of assistance they may offer.

So a lot of companies actually will offer rebates for certain energy efficiency measures that you take that will help you out on your bill.

They can set up a payment arrangement for your past due bills.

And they can also like offer equipment such as smart thermostats that will alert you to when there's peak demand where you might want to decrease the energy usage in your home.

Consumers can also install equipment such as solar panels and ceiling fans.

And then there are other measures that don't even require buying new equipment, which
