And I spoke to some experts who pointed to specific tools that people can look for at their places of employment.
So, for example, there is a human resources platform called Alight Work Life that connects employees payroll to their 401k, for example, or their medical benefits.
And it can kind of connect the dots between how
For example, if they get a bump in pay, they might suggest, hey, you can contribute more to your 401k, and it might not hurt that much when it comes to your budget.
Again, thinking about ways to reduce the likelihood that you will become frustrated with the penny-pinching when times get uncertain or a little tight.
The main takeaway that I got from the experts I spoke to is that if you're a long-term investor and you're looking at investment decisions that you sat down and thought about and forecast out for a while, you would be better off not taking action based on the market volatility of the current moment and automation
such as robo advisors, for example, which is a cheaper alternative to sign up as a client for a financial advisor, they will kind of automatically keep your investments in check, maybe send you alerts about what might be happening in your portfolio and help you monitor your
investments as opposed to being at the ready to make changes based on a headline that you read or a conversation that you had at work.
And so automation, as described by some of the financial planners I spoke to, can basically save you from yourself in a moment like this.
Yeah.
So simply put, algorithms and, you know, any kind of software should be used as a supplement to your financial strategy.
Don't just set it and forget it.
It's more like set it and monitor it and think of it as a tool as opposed to something that you just kind of hand over.
Right.
And I think that is kind of sound advice that a lot of people use.
