The Trump administration says tax refunds are up 24% compared to the average of refunds over the previous four years.

The average refund so far this tax season, $3,521, according to the IRS.

That's 11% higher than last year's average.

Administration officials says the higher refunds are the result of tax breaks and spending cuts, including no tax on tips or overtime pay, deductions for car loan interest, and deductions for seniors included in the so-called Big Beautiful Bill passed last year.

The deadline for filing 2025 tax returns is Wednesday.
