Emmanuel Cleaver's been around in Congress twenty years, been in Kansas C City politics for nearly fifty years, so he knows what he's doing and we'll see.

But like I said, the the makeup of the district is gonna be a challenge to overcome.

Yeah, so last year Missouri Republicans heeded President Trump's call to do mid decade redistricting.

It was the second state after Texas to do that with the explicit goal of ousting Emmanuel Cleaver.

So what they did essentially was take two seventy thirty districts in Missouri's sixth and fourth, and put a bit of that into Missouri's fifth to essentially make three sixty forty Republican districts.

So there's gonna be some interesting court cases coming soon.

The Missouri first map, as supporters call it, the new map, could be overturned if a referendum is certified for the ballot.

Secretary of State Denny Hoskins recently deemed the map unconstitutional, so a court's gonna have to sort that out.

And if it does and says it's certified for the ballot,

The Supreme Court has said that it goes back to the old map.

What that means for the primary we just held.

is unclear.

Yeah, so Emmanuel Cleaver, the districts approved in twenty twenty two, was basically just western Jackson County and southwest Clay County.

Now the fourth district hugs the border along Kansas up through Kansas City's uh urban core, and the fifth district jets out to Columbia and even south to the Ozarks.

So it's got a lot more rural mid-Missouri.

And even southern Missouri.

So the district was designed to unseat Cleaver.

Cook political report has it, I believe, at a Republican plus nine, a solid Republican seat.

It's pretty rare for a Democrat to win when Cook gives that rating.

That said, Emmanuel Cleaver's been around in Congress twenty years, been in Kansas C city politics for nearly fifty years.
