And I suppose the point is that, as you say, Clare, we now have a political culture that is primed to be constantly on patrol, and rightly so, for spending scandals.

Yeah, we've had the bike shed, we've had the National Children's Hospital, and there's a whole litany of other scandals.

So the question to my mind is whether the financial costs and the governance oversight arrangements around this are going to be...

you know, politically acceptable for the length of this project when the sums are so eye-poppingly huge.

I remember talking to one person in government about this, and I was drawing out this comparison between the Children's Hospital and the Metro.

And what they said was that, you know, the Children's Hospital is like a 5K race compared to the marathon that we're going to be running with the Metro.

This is going to be this is going to be generating column inches for years.

And let's not forget the guy who's in a really well paid job of delivering this.

He's stepped away.

So they have to find a replacement for him.

There'll be a question over how much that person is paid.

So I wonder, is the replacement going to be on the same or is that going to creep up as well?

This whole enterprise, multi-years, multi-billion, I think, is going to be shot through with this kind of scrutiny.

Well, maybe, maybe, maybe not.

Maybe this is the going rate for superheroes that you need to deliver these kind of mega projects.

And if you take a step back from it, I think that it's clear that this piece of infrastructure as well as multiple other pieces of infrastructure are sorely needed, as you were saying.

There's gaping sores across Ireland's kind of network of provision and all these things.

But

The political acceptability, the ceiling on these kind of projects has been set.
