I'm not saying that's going to happen in Edmonton, but I'm also saying for those who want to say, oh, you know, they got Ryan Shea, Darnell Nurse, at worst it's a wash player for player.
Well, you don't know what it means in the locker room.
You don't know what it means in terms of just a a a certain presence on the back end.
And you
I certainly don't know what it means in terms of when Darnell was at his best when he was a nasty piece of business in front of his own net.
That was when Darnell was at his best.
And I don't necessarily think that's, you know, Ryan Shay's forte.
But having said all that, I am not uh you know, I'm not overly concerned because of the oilers' strength and numbers.
In terms of that leadership and veteran presence.
It's not like Darnell was, you know, the only veteran guy back there.
They've still got veterans on the back end where I don't think as a unit it's going to be that much of a shakeup.
I mean, quite frankly, Evan Bouchard is no longer a young player in this league.
He's an established veteran who has survived not only the process of transition.
in as a guy that's leaned on for offense, but he's also, you know, been hardened by playing in this market.
He is, you know, had tough starts to seasons and and come roaring back.
And we saw it last year.
I I think at at this point, uh the Oilers back end is should be you know, in terms of the the classic where are you gonna get your offense
from defense, from special teams goaltending.
For me, uh, the team defensively, that's kinda near the bottom of my concerns.
Well, I just said that's the one thing, you know, uh when Darnell was at his best, he he did have the mean on at times.
