So he w that would have been the last year of his contract, two thousand three, four.

Yeah, it's weird, isn't it?

Like I suppose it's plausible in theory that somebody else would have come in and bought the club from Camp Bates, but it wouldn't have been anybody as rich or as ambitious or as keen to buy players um and spend money in the same way.

And I also just don't think

I don't th this is why Abramovich is so significant, really, is I don't think it would have occurred to your average multi billionaire oligarch anywhere in the world to just go and buy Chelsea.

It's just not really something that super, super rich people did at that point.

And so I don't think I think I probably would bet against somebody like Abramovich coming in to fill that space.

So I maybe some maybe Ken Bates I

And I think Tim's right.

I think that that would have prob probably ultimately put Chelsea heading in a downward direction, even though they did get into the Champions League at that point.

And maybe you know, and their best players would have been at risk, like Frank Lampard.

It was so important they got Mourinho when they did because it even though the player they had so much money and had fantastic players, that only gets you so far.

Like having having good players is, I think, a kind of necessary but not a sufficient condition to being that level of team.
