We put in calls to both of the men who were supposed to have seen Rose Baker and her sister Bernice sitting in a parked car outside the tavern six nights before.

Both of them corroborated Carl Shelton's story down to the last detail...

Bernice Marin told us that on the night her sister Rose disappeared, she hadn't seen her after 9.15 p.m.

and that she'd walked home and was in bed by 11.30.

Both Leroy Hanson and his friend told us that they had seen Rose Baker and a woman answering her sister's description sitting together in a car parked outside the tavern.

They were both certain at the time that it was well past midnight.

We made a check on Leroy Hanson and his friend.

As far as we were able to find out, there was no logical reason why they should lie about what they told us.
