Summer blockbusters, they're in my DNA.

We've had 50 years of them, and a helpful website, Yard Barker, an author Chris Morgan writing there has an article online that takes us through the

Summer blockbusters looking for what was the summer movie of each of the past 50 years.

There's usually a definitive movie or two, but he's chosen what was the summer movie from every year.

He's basing it on different factors like box office and cultural relevance and so on.

Now, some years they're not great movies, but ever since.

Steven Spielberg's Jaws initiated this as a thing, a movie that in the old days would see people lining up around the block to get in, and Hollywood Studios soon adjusted their schedules and their projected bottom lines around the launch and hopeful success of a big budget tent pole summer movie.

Ever since then, we've gone to the movies and sat in the air conditioning and gobbled popcorn and gobbled up stars and storylines.

Action movies, mostly, is what I'm expecting.

I haven't even looked at the list yet.

So I'm guessing that's what we're going to see: stuff in space, stuff with aliens, stuff with car chases, spies, guys with guns, comic books.

Will we see?

In our list of summer blockbusters from 1975 to 2025, a film based on a classic work of literature?

I can't remember one.

I kind of doubt it.

I don't count like Jaws was based on a book, but I'm talking about, you know, Pride and Prejudice or Wuthering Heights or something.

I don't think any of them is going to rise to the level of being the summer movie.
