And I'm here to oppose the BUILD Act, like many of the other residents who have spoken before me.
So, I will remind you that two weeks ago, the Budget and Finance Committee heard from the Mayor's Office on budget instructions.
The Mayor's Office of Public Policy and Finance made it clear that city spending outpaces revenue by a lot.
The city's deficit this year is 296.3 million.
By fiscal year 2029 to 2023, the deficit will rise to 1.17 billion.
These figures do not reflect the reduction of Prop I funds that would be lost because of the BUILD Act.
Prop I matters to me because the real estate transfer tax is the biggest funder of the city's general fund and makes sure that everyone pays their fair share.
