Although I don't know whether Van Enwalagen was thinking about logically reversible deterministic laws.
Certainly logically reversible deterministic laws are the kinds of laws that we're familiar with from our best physical theories up until we got to the twentieth century.

And I think what troubles people is the idea that the deep past, together with the in this case, assumed to be deterministic laws of physics
already determined everything that we would ever do, separate from our personality, separate from who we are.
Yes.
That idea that it's not us making choices, but that everyt all of our behavior has been determined by something that
uh took place well before we ever lived is is very troubling to people.
And the Van und Waggen argument formalizes this as a set of premises followed by a conclusion.

The laws of nature are deterministic.

The laws of nature together with the past
uniquely determine the future.
We don't have control over the laws of nature.
We don't have control over the past.
And we also don't have control over the fact that the laws of nature together with the past fix the future uniquely.
