If you think about it, it's kinda hard to imagine how we acquire a facility with indexicles because it's very hard to explain the use of indexicles to a small child.

We just sort of watch people use indexicals and we as small children and we develop a facility for them just sort of by observing how they're used in practice.

Sometimes we use indexicals and statements we attach probabilities to.

So for example, we might say, and now I'm borrowing an example from Emily.

How likely?

What probability would I attach to the proposition, the statement that I'm gonna wake up at nine AM?

We could just as well or I I I me speaking could just as well have said

What's the probability that Jacob Barandess will wake up at nine AM?

Notice I have removed the indexical and replaced it with a nonindexical, Jacob Barundus.

And if want to be more specific, although there are no other Jacob Barandesses.

I'm sui generous.

But if it were more than one, I would I could say something like the Jacob Barandess who was born in New York City and you know, I could I could add further details until I specified that Jacob Barandess uniquely.

And then I wouldn't need a use of indexicals.
