Audiobook Café
Detective Aunty: In Conversation with Uzma Jalaluddin

Welcome to Audiobook Cafe.

Audiobook Café
Detective Aunty: In Conversation with Uzma Jalaluddin

I want to start with Detective Vanti because it's your most recent release.

Audiobook Café
Detective Aunty: In Conversation with Uzma Jalaluddin

And this is a good old fashioned murder mystery a la Agatha Christie, which is interesting because before all of your books were romantic comedies.

Detective Aunty: In Conversation with Uzma Jalaluddin

So I'm wondering why the change?

Audiobook Café
Detective Aunty: In Conversation with Uzma Jalaluddin

So after your first book, your publishers and your publicists gave you the advice to continue writing rom-coms.

Audiobook Café
Detective Aunty: In Conversation with Uzma Jalaluddin

Did they?

Audiobook Café

recommend that to you?

Audiobook Café
Detective Aunty: In Conversation with Uzma Jalaluddin

Did they make it as a suggestion?

Audiobook Café
Detective Aunty: In Conversation with Uzma Jalaluddin

Or did they tell you?

Audiobook Café
Detective Aunty: In Conversation with Uzma Jalaluddin

I'm curious.

Now, Detective Auntie, can you tell us more about the book, what the plot is and what people can expect?

Audiobook Café
Detective Aunty: In Conversation with Uzma Jalaluddin

Now, auntie is a word that carries a lot of different meanings.

Audiobook Café
Detective Aunty: In Conversation with Uzma Jalaluddin

Can you unpack that?

Audiobook Café
Detective Aunty: In Conversation with Uzma Jalaluddin

Koser specifically as a character is hilarious because she's very nosy.

Audiobook Café
Detective Aunty: In Conversation with Uzma Jalaluddin

She's not super gossipy.

Audiobook Café
Detective Aunty: In Conversation with Uzma Jalaluddin

She's not out there talking about all the happenings with everyone.

Audiobook Café
Detective Aunty: In Conversation with Uzma Jalaluddin

she's just like acquiring all sorts of information very Poirot-esque like from Agatha Christie but what I find most funny is that she really enjoys the whole investigation part of it like she and her white lady friend may really enjoy like sort of playing at investigation which I find super wholesome like even despite the whole tragedy that's going on they're still finding a way to be like this is kind of cool isn't it which I could not help but forget such a kick out of that

Audiobook Café
Detective Aunty: In Conversation with Uzma Jalaluddin

Now, Koser, does she live up to the stereotypes of auntie?

Audiobook Café
Detective Aunty: In Conversation with Uzma Jalaluddin

Because I've told the premise of this book to a couple of people and people are like, that sounds awesome.

Aunties are hilarious.
