It's laughable.
Yes, it's laughable because of what it does to people who are on the ground in real time.
All people want is information.
And there are enough challenges with problems with the information system that was local here in terms of getting people evacuated.
And West Altadena, there were people that died reportedly and allegedly because they didn't get the alerts in time from the municipal entities here to have someone like a Donald Trump saying,
there's a finger to point about local officials so that your water is running dry, not because all the water in LA and the municipal system is being engaged in trying to fight these historic fires, but because there's a reservoir that's dry in the Palisades that
Would it have made a difference in the pressure?
It's very possible that it would have.
But would it have stopped the fires entirely?
There is no way, according to civil engineers and firefighters and everybody.
And that's more of the misinformation even that Elon Musk was spreading.
He was standing with firefighters during a live stream talking to them about the water pressure and basically prodding them to endorse these conspiracy theories about how the system was broken in some way.
And they pushed back and said, no, this is just where we're at, given the resources that we have available at the time.
And in that moment, there's an amazing scene in the book where Gavin Newsom is sitting in his war room in L.A.
and he looks up at the screen and he's watching Elon Musk and he says, clip that out.
F these guys.
We have to fight back.
And it's the beginning of how he has started to use social media today to push back equally as hard as the incoming that he's getting, because he realizes that without that type of a fight, you know, you're doomed to be the victim of misinformation and disinformation in a crisis like this.
That could be potentially catastrophic.
