And I organized them and I thought, Oh my God, this drawer is just gorgeous.
It makes me so happy to open.
And then I realized after about three months, I never opened that drawer.
I never took a single thing out of that drawer.
And instead, the items I did need were sitting on top of my desk.
So thinking about how you use a space is really important before you just start organizing and understanding that you can marry function and beauty at the same time.
But in order to do that, you have to actually be honest with yourself and say, how will I use this space?
And how can I make it work for me?
We try to do that because if the items are not out, if everything always, everything should always have a home.
And if it does, you have no stress because you know where it goes.
It's not just sitting out.
The stress comes from looking at something going, I don't know where to put it.
And this drawer is now full with my beautiful bins, but I have nowhere to put this lip gloss.
So it sits on the countertop.
And now every time you walk by it, you think I need to put that lip gloss away.
So reducing visual clutter, reducing clutter overall, and having an absolute home for everything is always going to be the easiest way to do it.
And
And honestly, even reducing clutter reduces your expenses.
Like you're mentioning, you're not buying more bins to shove them in.
You're not paying to have somebody come and clean your home because it's too overwhelming for you.
