When we tell you things like the 25% rule, your mortgage should be no more than 25% of your take-home pay after taxes, it's so that you feel good and you can actually enjoy your home.
You're not house poor.
When we tell you not to borrow against your home on HELOCs or home equity loans, it's so that your wealth that you build is your wealth.
And when the time comes for you to upgrade and house, you have all of that at your disposal.
