Especially after the first couple months seeing some early traction, I would have said no.
It's going to be bigger by that point.
But I would have been surprised by the average level of quality of the people who listen.
And maybe that comes hand in hand.
It's probably the higher quantity, the quality probably drops off and you start to get some more...
for lack of a better word, like NPC types who are just like big, you know, consumers versus like a lot of people who listen to mine are actually like out there kind of like doing stuff.
Yeah, so I'll keep it pretty short, and you can ask any follow-ups or whatever if you want.
But I grew up in the Northeast and went to college.
I was really into sports growing up and also pretty entrepreneurial.
When I realized that sports wasn't going to go anywhere long-term, I really dug in on the business side of things, went to school for that, really had a terrible freshman year for a number of reasons, decided I wanted to transfer and apply to a bunch of schools.
Nothing was super exciting.
So I ended up taking a gap year to try to start a business based on this idea that I had.
and the business didn't you know amount to anything but the year was actually like super transformative for me like my life i view as kind of like a before and after that year um and then uh got into a better school as a result of that a school that had previously rejected me i think it was just like writing about this experience a little bit or whatever um you know same grades same sats and everything i got in and really loved that school um graduate you know
went there for three years and graduated, got to study abroad in Italy and do a bunch of great stuff.
And, um, ended up starting my career in investment banking, uh, on San Francisco for a year and a half or so.
And then New York for another year, all with the same company with the same group, just different, uh,
geography and i was doing technology mergers and acquisitions you know doing the classic kind of banking grind okay um quit after two years without knowing what was next traveled for a little bit um covet hit realized you know probably not the best time to look for a job also moved home so i didn't really have any burn and um in terms of you know finances and so kind of
put the brakes on like trying to find my next thing and just started writing a lot and running a lot.
I ended up writing blog posts every day or every weekday for like six months or something like that.
Started the podcast soon after that.
