So it's like, okay, that, that, so it could get delayed, you know, who knows?
yeah i i don't know like i think they have said maybe or it was talked about that now they're just polishing and they've been polishing for a long time but like polish for a rock star game like every game they've released comes out ridiculously polished and i'm sure they spend years doing that yeah so i i get why they haven't announced it i feel like or announced the release date i feel like they are just waiting for that right time but yeah it is funny seeing the fallout of this i mean
I think, like, what, Battlefield was kind of one of the ones that was referenced, like, that Battlefield game, which a bunch of clips have been leaking online. Like, it seems like that game is getting there, you know? Yeah. And just to see it wait for GTA seems weird.
And here's the other thing. Like, I think Red Dead 2 had, like, three different release dates. Like, it was supposed to come out in, like, 2017 and got pushed to 2018, and then it got delayed a couple months. So even if they do come out and announce a release date... could it be delayed anyway? Yeah.
I do think, though, when they give a release date for this one, for GTA 6, I think it'll come out that day. Obviously, the release window 2025, I could see that moving, but I think when they're like, it's coming out, I don't know, February 17th, 2026, I think it's going to hit that. This game has been in the oven for so long now, right? Yeah. I mean, I don't know when full production started.
I'm sure it's out there. But there hasn't been a GTA game in over 10 years.
How do you feel if GTA gets delayed? It doesn't come out this year. Are you excited for GTA 6? Are you like, I need it now? Or are you cool? I don't need it now.
Yeah. What about you? I'm in the same boat. I really like GTA V. I mean, I loved Red Dead Redemption 2. I'm cool with them taking the time they need for that. I think what I'm most curious about, which I haven't seen a whole lot of people talk about other than me, is this is the first GTA that Sam Houser is not leading the writing team on.
And he's been kind of... I mean, obviously, those teams are huge. So many people work on these games. But there is, like, a certain tone that I think all Rockstar games hit that, like, at least from my perspective, I kind of attribute to the Hausers. And I'm super curious to see what GTA 6 looks like without that direction. So, like, I'm...
I almost think the story may not be as compelling as some of the other stuff, but that's a conversation to be had when the game comes out, but that's what I'm most excited about. I want to see what GTA 6 looks like without Sam Houser.
Which I have no interest in, you know? Like, I enjoyed my time with GTA Online, but I'm just there for the story of the world, and, like, I'll bounce after I'm done, you know?
more online in the single player right like yeah is it going to be a thing where i am playing as the main character in a single player mode and like i talked to somebody to do a mission and they're like all right now here hop in with your friends keep up with your buddies so you can like gain the online bucks and i'm like no i just want to play by myself i do feel like that online has to work day one or whenever they plan to launch it i know they usually delay the launch of online but like uh gta5 online back in 2013 i remember that was pretty broken when that was
red dead redemption 2 that online was pretty broken and i feel like considering how big gta online is i feel like whatever they do is six that online's got to be i'm gonna hope i'm gonna tell you right now it's not yeah it's not gonna work at launch because you know like i don't i don't know how many copies that's gonna sell 50 million or whatever like 50 million people jumping online like that sounds impossible that's obviously an estimate that i'm just pulling out of the air but like here's the thing
Or better yet, do you remember the aerial shot before you get into online and it would just sit there and you'd be looking at Los Santos and you'd just be waiting and you'd see that little circle spinning and nothing would happen. Dude, I can't wait.
Great. We need more. I mean, I feel like there's been so many mergers and sites shut down that more is better, I think. And especially with Jeff Keighley kind of leading it, I feel like there is a position for that to succeed, and I hope it does.
Yeah, exactly. I mean, like, I feel like for the longest time, like, people have been asking, like, how do I get in the industry? And it's like, well, there's got to be jobs. And right now, there's not a lot. Apart from freelancing. Yeah. And, like, you know, freelancing is great if you're, like, getting your feet wet and you want to, like, get into the industry.
But it can't really pay the bills necessarily unless you're – depending on where you're writing for. I am curious, though, to see, like – what audience is interested in this. Cause I mean, like it already is tough to find an audience for gaming websites today. And I like, even with like, is Jeff Keighley enough to sort of like push an audience there? I don't know.
Like a lot of it is just like mastering Google SEO, which is kind of soulless and not fun. You know, like, I don't know. I don't know. I'm probably not the one to ask though.
And I mean, at this point too, Jeff Keighley kind of has a chokehold on three of the biggest gaming events in the world now, right? Like the Game Awards, Summer Game Fest, and Gamescom. He's pretty involved in all three of those, if not heading them up, leading them, that I could see how, kind of like you're saying, that could bolster the other side of the business, right? Where it's like...
Jeff Keighley has these big tentpole events, but then throughout the year, it's still kind of staying relevant because of this sort of Jeff Keighley-backed outlet. I don't know. I need to look more into the details of how this works and kind of see it play out. But I am curious, and I really hope it succeeds and does well because we do need more voices. I agree with that.
