Funny enough, the first thing I saw when I was kind of following it online was Joe going, was I going up injured?

So it was also a bad start.

Plus à change, as the French say.

I got significantly better than that.

Some real positives to take.

I think it's nice to have Liverpool back.

I was just saying to Stu before we started that I think you forget kind of how toxic the end of last season was.

And I think change has done everyone well.

That is, of course, only early days, one game in.

It's your pre-season friendly, so there's not loads to take.

But just in terms of the mood, it feels like everyone's kind of excited for what's to come, what the season could hold, what the next few years could hold, what this manager could bring to Liverpool.

So I think we saw flashes of that on Saturday night.

Yeah, I think if there's one silver lining to take from the Gomez situation, it's that it's happened in the first game of the summer and you've still got time to go out and get an adequate replacement.

Because sometimes you can almost kid yourself into a false sense of security if you aren't making signs where you can look and say,

you know, well, Gomez is experienced and he offers this and that, but if you can't get him on the pitch, there's kind of no point having him around almost.

And as you say, you know, a fantastic centre-half in his day, you know, you think of the kind of the partnership he formed with Van Dijk, 18, 19, 19, 20, you know, was brilliant and probably

unlucky not to play more games due to injury and form that Joel Matipad at the time but I think the last few years he's just really struggled to get on the pitch even when he has been available clearly there hasn't been a trust there under the manager's game so kind of been managed you might see him in for one and then out for two kind of thing so yeah

I think the big thing is, you know, they obviously do need to go out and get a replacement.

What level that is, you know, I'd like to see them go and get, you know, someone who's Premier League ready or at least kind of got experience of playing in the Champions League or top level.
