The race for the Miami mayor's office is officially nonpartisan, but President Trump brought national attention to it when he endorsed former city manager Emilio Gonzalez.

The campaign has attracted big names from both sides of the aisle.

Miami has not elected a Democratic mayor in nearly three decades.

The party, however, is looking to former County Commissioner Eileen Higgins to help add momentum heading into next year's midterm elections.
