My name is James Dixon, wishing you all a very good morning, afternoon, or evening, wherever or whenever you tune into today's podcast from.

And I am tuning into the podcast from a very different location today.

We've been given an invitation to come down to the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.

They are celebrating their 50th anniversary, 50 years as a hotel, but more importantly, 50 years as a key part of the UK events infrastructure and business.

Um, I would guess that most of the people who listen to this podcast and watch this podcast on a regular basis will either have attended or worked in, uh, this amazing place at some point during their careers.

And as part of those sort of anniversary celebrations, event industry news, um, was given an invitation to come down here today, record some episodes of the podcast in this amazing space.

We're in the bright Smith's restaurant, uh,

and bar overlooking the beautiful lake at the heart of the NEC.

And we've been blessed with a glorious, glorious day to do it on.

We've taken advantage of a little bit of the hospitality here.
