Five individuals.
Yeah, maybe five feet wide.
All facing in the same direction, but two of them obviously were pretty much stacked on top of the first three.
He was easy because he had a brass regimental device from his shoulder belt.
It had a 71 on it.
His buttons had 71s on them.
There's no question that's who he was.
There was nothing diagnostic on the burial.
He's one of the ones who was found by relic hunters years ago.
One of the two that we excavated that they found.
They also found the 71st guy.
This appears to be pretty shallow, but there is scab, yeah.
They went into a coroner's vehicle and they went to the Richland County Coroner's Office and each individual was laid out on a table and thoroughly studied from a physical anthropology standpoint.
Laying each person out in correct anatomical order, whatever was still there.
Well, of course, I'd like to see as many as possible identified.
Ultimately, I'd like to see a lot more individuals excavated.
