How did they come into the ownership?

The White Stripes manager was, when they were on tour in New Zealand, they went through Tauranga or went through Hamilton or somewhere, and he knew Kane, or he knew Kane's family.

And they, the White Stripes were looking for a weird prop,

for the album cover.

Sure.

And he had this bat that he got from his, I think it might be cousin or something, from Kane.

And then he took it back on tour with him to the States.

And then it's ended up on the album cover.

And there's a big article about it as well, and it's quite a crazy yarn that his bat is, so he would have been a kid when he did it.
