this whole question of depth and appearance.

And when it comes to people, we so much value this idea that there is something more to a person than their appearance, that it's some kind of ghost that lives through time.

And that's true.

That's a real thing.

And yet, if you are constantly trying to believe only in something within and not with the outward appearance, then you can get into the situation where you're pouring away and pouring away and tearing apart.

There's not this layer, not this layer, not this layer until all the layers are gone and there's nothing.

and this question of whether a person... Oh, that's what the security guard says at the end, isn't he?

I find the reading is best when it's extremely short.

And I suppose one of the things that it would be fair to say about it is that of all my fiction, it kind of, partakes is perhaps the wrong word, but it kind of, it draws on my travels, my experiences as somebody wandering around Britain, just writing about
