a huge number of reasons so people are i suppose people are first and foremost drawing attention to the fact that jeff bezos as he drifts further and further right is having a much more negative impact on culture more generally people are pointing out the fact that sort of he is essentially the team who elects luther he is this sort of overlord evil individual who sort of runs this i suppose this this online shop which i suppose has has has
absolutely destroyed workers' rights, has made sort of, you know, the people who are working with them are sort of, you know, really sort of treated extremely badly.
It has sort of resulted in a huge explosion in fast fashion.
Exactly the sort of thing, the opposite of the sort of stuff you would expect you would want to see from being sort of, you know, positioned or pushed forward by sort of Vogue, Anna Wintour, these people who previously sort of leaned into this sort of the
exclusivity and the importance of quality within fashion.
So it's led to a lot of very interesting conversations.
And indeed, some of that has spilled over into kind of some of the direct actions campaigns.

tens of hundreds of small vials of fake urine all over the Met Gala or all over the Metropolitan Museum in reference to the fact that Amazon employees frequently talk about having to urinate in bottles because they can't either leave their posts in the factories or because they're not able to
stop on their delivery runs to be able to use the bathroom.
We have seen Zoran Mandami, who would typically the mayor of New York for the last number of decades, the mayor of New York and the first lady of New York would attend the gala.
But this year, Zoran has said he's skipping it instead to spotlight fashion workers in New York, fashion industry workers in New York, and particularly just to speak about affordability, which has been his kind of number one priority.
his number one focus, he said, the world's eyes are on fashion's biggest night, but we're turning ours to the workers who keep that running.
So it's become a real moment, a real controversial moment.
And it sort of is interesting to see kind of, and I don't want to draw too much of a comparison to this, but in my mind, there's kind of an equivalence to kind of,
the Eurovision of it all where is it like at what point does it move too far into the kind of image laundering zone that it just is something you have to look away from because obviously you know Jeff Bezos who is now the biggest funder of this rumours abound that he is about to purchase Condé Nast and that's why all of this attention is being given to him but so it's giving the devil wears Prada too
It actually is.
