Jonah kind of said, look, I appreciate your throwaway that not all South African fans are so confident, but I'm still surprised to hear so many podcasts talk about how confident we are that we'll win every match.
I'm starting to think it's a cultural difference.
British and maybe New Zealand culture emphasizes a kind of humble presentation.
Not everyone, but the usual way people present themselves is with a kind of reserve about their achievements, which is 100% true about New Zealand culture.
Whereas SA culture is a bit more like US culture in that respect, much more self-asserting.
So what outsiders read as supreme confidence, I read as modest optimism.
I I think there's enough respect there that they kind of feel like to say four nil is kind of being disrespectful to the legacy of the all blacks versus the springbox.
