and they have things like apps to remind you when the food is going out of date and they can even suggest recipes.

So I guess in principle it would solve a lot of these issues because as you put in a tomato it goes, okay I've logged that tomato, let's make a pasta sauce or whatever.

But when you actually get into that tech, I mean it's very much in its infancy,

And I personally think one of the big issues is actually that replacement piece, because let's say you put into your fridge, I don't know, 10 apples and your fridge sees you put 10 apples in and then you eat one of them and nine of them go to waste and you remove the nine.

Yeah.

And they're wasted.

Well, your fridge has just gone, well, you ate those 10 apples really fast.

Yeah.

Or really slow in this instance.

But you ate those 10 apples, let's buy 10 more.

Okay.

And a lot of these fridges have like the technical ability to like reorder stuff or add it to your shopping list.

And it's...

It is actually not solving the food waste issue.

It is driving consumerism dressed up as sustainability.

And it doesn't really work.

And like the use by date things, you have to manually enter the use by date.

So, I mean, you might as well just keep an Excel spreadsheet.

Where you just write down all your products.

And obviously we have lots of critics of AI who listen to this podcast.
