And there was a really interesting news story that I saw yesterday, actually, from East London, which showed that there had been a 52% increase in fires between 24, 25 and 25, 26. voice-verified

So those financial years, 52% increase in fires, which they were attributing to batteries. voice-verified

And they had estimated that 48 million batteries and small electricals had been thrown in the residual bin in 2025. voice-verified

But 47% of Londoners surveyed said they were fully aware that throwing them in the bin causes fires in bin lorries or waste facilities. voice-verified

So I feel a larger proportion of people are aware of the fires, but that is not reducing the fires. voice-verified

And this tells me this isn't just an awareness problem, it's a behaviour problem. voice-verified
