Like I did not imagine hearing a woman say that about another woman.
But, you know, listen, it becomes a very mercenary thing.
It's not gendered.
Like it's about the haves and the have nots.
It's about what we owe each other, you know.
I mean, certainly.
I mean the person who has the money has something to lose though too.
So
Um, I mean, I I think what you wanna always do is find the the formula and the accommodation that's gonna make sense.
You you're not gonna be successful in like preventing alimony in a case where alimony is clearly applicable.
The question is, is how long and how much?
And and if I front load it, can I have a shorter duration?
And you know, the time value of money applies, or in lieu of alimony, I'll give you this asset and and that applies.
Applies certain negative contingency discounts.
I mean, a lot of what I do isn't sexy.
Like people think divorce lawyers are, you know, constantly like just dealing with, you know, crazy custody cases and like cross-examining people.
And there's a big part of my job that is that.
But a lot of what I do is like, you know, kind of wonky dorky stuff.
Like it's a lot about like, you know, applying negative contingency discounts and figuring out if an asset's in an intentionally defective grant or trust, like what impact does that have on the marriage?
Like it's kind of dorky stuff, but because you I'm a trial lawyer, and as a trial lawyer, you have to have like a performer streak and you have to be able to like it's I call it full contact storytelling.
