And we're like, you know, all right.
And it's not that it's not great, of course, but it's like it just becomes familiar.
So I think we have in us this depth of love.
And I think how you do anything is how you do everything, you know?
And I think that there is a tremendous invitation in the other loves of your life to understanding how you love and how you want to be loved.
But romantic love is scarier than the love of a pet because there's so much vulnerability.
There's a lot of vulnerability in romantic love.
This person really gets to know you in a really deep way.
And intimacy...
Intimacy is not about sex.
Like when you talk to people about intimacy, like they often refer to sex, but intimacy is defined as the ability to be completely yourself with another person.
And I think it's actually the way we want desperately to be loved.
I've said before, I'm not religious.
I don't believe in a devil.
I believe in God, but I don't believe in a devil.
But if there was a devil, I think the devil's principal function would be to convince us that we're so bestial and awful that God couldn't possibly love us.
And I think...
We're very scared that if someone, like the person who loves us, really knew us, like really knew what's in our hearts, really knew the awful thoughts we have sometimes, the weaknesses of us, that they couldn't possibly love us.
Like they only love me because they don't know me.
If they knew me, they wouldn't love me.
