Those types of things have always been important to elections, but they are so important at the moment.
They are so visceral for voters of all political stripes.
And I think that's what this election has confirmed.
The good thing, Anthony, is that Orban came out very quickly, accepted the election result and got out of the way.
I mean, that's where this could have got nasty and silly.
It didn't.
So that is a moment worth sort of celebrating.
But I think if you're Donald Trump thinking of the midterm elections in October and November, this would frighten the pants off you, not because of a tilt from the right to left, but because all people care about are inflation, inequality, immigration jobs.
Yeah.
And what's Trump going to be able to show the electorate of the US?
Oh, we're doing a great job on inflation.
Yeah, don't worry about your $4 gasoline.
I think this just refocuses politicians around the world on how important prices are.
And it's not necessarily the rate of price growth, the rate of inflation.
It's the change in price levels.
As Michelle Bullock, the RBA governor, keeps telling us, that's what really hurts people.
And it's at the forefront of people's minds.
