I think we're about to see who's swimming naked in private credit and that's a worry because three years ago, five years ago, most Australians hadn't heard of private credit. matched

Now everybody's a investor in private credit via their superannuation funds. matched

I don't think this is a systemic crisis. matched

We we don't need to rush to private credit and say this is all bad. matched

In fact I reckon private credit actually has a really important place in in matched

stepping into those areas where banks won't go anymore. matched

So I think we want to make sure private credit is done well, as ASIC says. matched

And I don't think there's any cause for people to rush to private credit and immediately withdraw just on the suspicion of exposures to something like Bathlight. matched

But it is a time when I think private credit firms will need to do a better job of being transparent. matched

A better job of disclosure, a better job of talking to clients and investors and reassuring them what's in their portfolio, how do their risk management processes work? matched

We've already started to see the good ones do that this week, and I think that's what we want to see more of. matched

But there is a bit of a risk that there's going to be some nasty things sort of float to the surface in this crisis. matched
