This has been a very controversial topic in the last few weeks for those who haven't followed it. matched

The Productivity Commission did a review of the GST deal that Scott Morrison did in 2018 that basically was designed to make the states sort of equalize. matched

But really, what it was designed to do was to um try and save a bunch of Liberal seats in Western Australia with a very nice deal for the WA government. matched

The Productivity Commission came out and said the deal that Morrison did should be scrapped. matched

And the West Australian Premier, Roger Cook, Anthony, he's very unhappy with the Productivity Commission. matched

He's thrown all sorts of insults at them in the last week and is matched

uh obviously uh refusing to change anything about the GST deal. matched

So, Anthony, do you think Harry's got a point that uh Western Australia shouldn't be made to um I guess suffer because of the poor decision making in places like Victoria and New South Wales? matched

Yeah, look, I I was t quite taken by uh an opinion piece in the AFR by Chris Richardson, who's a highly respected economist. matched

He perhaps a little unfairly called Western Australia the nepo baby of Australia's uh economy. matched

And his point was that West Australians shouldn't confuse rich mineral resources with great economic management. matched

Yes, Western Australia is uh a very rich state, but it's not a rich state. matched

Because of a series of brilliant decisions made by politicians. matched

It's a very rich state because that's where the rocks are. matched

And as you say, those rocks are not just the property of Western Australia, they are the property of all Australians. matched

I think the reaction of Roger Cook to the Productivity Commission report has been really poor. matched
