Now, James, we mentioned OpenAI earlier.
They filed documents this week and they intend to float.
What do we know about this deal?
And does it matter who's second to IPO after SpaceX, whether it's OpenAI or its great rival, Anthropic?
Well, we don't know a whole lot about OpenAI other than the fact that they've now got the door open to a possible float.
Sam Altman's apparently told staff in a memo that could happen any time in the next 12 months, and he's not set on a date, and there's a lot of water to go under the bridge, yada, yada, yada.
But I think it does matter.
if OpenAI or Anthropic beat one or the other to the market?
Because of that capital thing, neither is going to be first, but do you really want to be third out of OpenAI, SpaceX, and Anthropic?
If you're third, there's a risk that everybody's already invested their money.
They're sick of hearing about these new AI stocks.
They just-
they've got enough exposure to ai and they just won't be that much interest in the third one of these to go so i think we could see a bit of a race um and a bit of jostling and a bit of theater which is good fun um it's fascinating though anthony like if open ai lists you'd expect they'll raise i don't know somewhere between 75 billion us and 100 billion us in equity
I mean, it's six weeks since they raised $122 billion in equity, that's US dollars, in the biggest ever raising in Silicon Valley.
These things are so capital hungry, and yet they're not producing much revenue at all.
