When they go to hospital, they're far more likely to stay longer.
Their physical health and mental health is far worse than people without intellectual disability.
They've got a lifespan, sorry, a life expectancy
It's around 16 years less than people without intellectual disability.
They're more likely to be incarcerated.
So all of these key measures that governments and society looks at, they are poorly represented in each and all of those categories.
And then when you put sport into the mix, clearly it's great for your physical health.
It's great for mental health.
It's great to be able to connect to communities.
The social outcomes are phenomenal.
We do some really great work with athletes through our athlete leaders program and concepts around that that teaches life skills as much as anything else.
We do some phenomenal work outside of the white lines of sport as well.
really, really important for people with intellectual disability to be able to engage in sport.
Yeah, we've got World Games next year in Chile, which will be really exciting.
We'll take a most likely looks like a delegation of about 60 or 65 athletes across World Games sports over there next year, around the same time, October in 2027 to Chile.
So
Lots to play for and lots to compete for for our athletes.
Not only is it just a remarkable opportunity for them to put a toe on the start line, the carrot of being able to represent your country at a World Games next year is on the line for lots of these athletes.
So no doubt that competition will be high and they'll be keen to put their foot forward and see if they can get themselves onto Team Australia.
