I was born in Eastern Europe in 1987 in the Czech Republic, which was two years before the wall came down.
And growing up as a kid in post-Soviet Eastern Europe, California was the California dream.
And then after 26 years, I finally got here in 2013.
And what I found was homelessness.
It was people throwing rocks at Google buses.
It was companies beginning to leave the state.
And all of it was entirely self-inflicted.
All of it.
I've dedicated the last decade of my life to the idea that Solano County can be the bridge between California's past and its future and one of the most important places in America.
The people who are kind of creating this panic about it are the same people who on another project would be talking about some tree, on another project they would be talking about noise, on another project they would be talking about views.
Certain people just hate development.
Why is it California forever?
I mean, California invented the modern world, right?
Like, you think about all of the stuff around us.
It was basically invented here, from radio and TV to satellites and planes, microchips and the internet and iPhones and now AI.
Like, basically, we live in a world that was invented by California.
And I think it would be such a shame if we screw it up.
I do.
I think there's no world like it.
And so that's why it's California forever.
