Freelance journalist Shelley Kittleson was abducted from a Baghdad street last Tuesday.
Khatab Hezbollah, one of Iraq's most powerful Iran-backed paramilitaries, announced it was releasing her as a gesture of appreciation to Iraq's prime minister.
It did not give details.
The group said as a condition of her release, Kittleson would have to immediately leave Iraq.
