And I think when you're in a long-term relationship, you realise that you have different pressures and stresses in your life.
And that you're not always both in the same boat of like, I think we should have sex.
And the other person's like, I don't want to.
I have to be honest that when the model is the Hollywood model, I find it hard to not feel like a failure sometimes.
It's easy for this dialogue to creep in of like, oh, maybe I'm just not desirable to you anymore.
It's not exactly what you're talking about, but what you've said has made me think about something.
We had Esther Perel on the podcast and had a wonderful chat with her and I was talking a little bit about when you've got two young kids and you get them both to bed and both me and my wife are exhausted and we are flicking through our phones on the couch and not really talking or connecting.
And I asked her, what's the cost?
And she had a brilliant answer about what the cost to a relationship can be if you let that persist.
But one of her suggestions has always stuck with me.
She said it's really important there's an intention for you to connect.
So she said it can be a minute of you lying in the dark together holding hands, but you have to create that time and that moment.
Yeah.
And it's really always stuck with me how important it is for us as a couple to –
when life's busy and you've got young kids and how hectic life can be to have little moments that are intimate but not in a sexual way but just holding hands at a certain point or if you're watching tv like legs are touching or something like that just a moment of intentional connection that i'm still here and how important that is and it's a it's a beautiful lesson that feels relevant to this
In what you said there, I think there was a point that I don't think is necessarily discussed or thought about from men enough.
I don't know if you guys agree with this, but I think that there's a myth that I took on as a teenager that part of being a man is that you should just know what to do.
Part of what you sort of smuggled in as part of that was that talk to your partners, like
Yeah, you could try.
Yeah.
