But it does seem that the moment that immediate crisis averts, it is very easy for everybody to sort of just keep moving on and we resume business as usual.
I think as well, it's very telling how that poll is framed in terms of how we think about these things.
The question is, are you changing your holiday plans?
Any other issue, the issues would be discussed would be, what is this costing the economy?
What is this costing the capacity of our health system, our education system, our transport systems and all the other kind of vital infrastructure of our societies?
And that is like we know that the wild between the wildfires, between the extreme heat and between the kind of impact of that in the water systems of Europe, that we have seen billions and billions cost in just to keep basic infrastructure alive.
Yeah, so this is, I was really interested in this piece.
I think it's obviously the issues of safety, particularly in the North Inner City, where I represent at the moment, are constant features in the media and communities are plagued by
whether it's drug dealing, whether it's the use of scramblers, general antisocial behaviour.
And I think then the city really suffers reputationally as a result as well.
So then the Gardaí have trialled a system where they can pursue...
They can run pursuits by drone instead of by high speed.
Instead of using cars and vehicles, which obviously there is a real risk to public safety, they are using drones.
I mean, I guess I'm immediately reading that and I'm looking at a hundred reasons why this could be incredibly problematic, including the widespread surveillance, the fact that we don't know where the drones are, what they're looking at.
Do you know, I feel that people are crying out, desperate for community policing.
They want to have a sense of their communities are... There's a presence in the communities, which can be both guarded, but also the wider kind of security, safety presence, whatever that means.
And my feeling on this, reading it, is we've tried nothing.
We're all out of ideas.
Let's just go surveillance state.
kind of version of things I would like to see we've been looking at having increasing the numbers of Gardaí in the street we've talked about the minister at the time Helen McEntee for justice was on Capel Street talking about how much we're investing in community safety partnerships there's no money going into them there's no budget behind them there is you know without that there's no real credible solution been offered on the community safety end of things and yet I feel like
