That's what I'm trying to get across.

Oh, 20 or more years ago, ages ago.

And I wonder when they were doing the gifting, there was a time, I think it was about 2010, when people no longer, I mean, you could always forgive as much debt as you liked, but sent over $27,000, you paid duty on.

So do you remember then, Tim, it came in?

And then a new law came in and everybody could gift as much as they like without paying any duty.

And you had a lot of people do what was called lump sum gifting.

Absolutely.

And so as a consequence of that, when people lump some gift, they divest themselves of all of their assets there and then.

And that can cause real issues when they're looking at whether they're going to give a rest time subsidy or not.

Gosh, that's... Yeah, so that's another reason why trust is so interesting, you see.

And that was, back then, it was $27,000 per person.

But as soon as that law change came in, then there was a court case a few years later, and it's $27,000 per couple.

Get ready to pay for your own care.

And of course the argument there is, well, if you've got millions, you should be paying with rest home care.

So, you know, we're over a whole can of worms there with our listeners.

And that's over a million these days.

And I can understand that perspective.

But there's also the other perspective, Brendan, and that is this.

If everybody who goes into business with the best will in the world, they're not out to rip anybody off.

But issues happen, which may be no fault of their own.
