Tens of thousands of residents have been forced to flee.

Law enforcement says an adult male bystander who was hit when Secret Service agents exchanged fire with a gunman near the White House last night is in stable condition today.

It's not clear who shot him.

This as the investigators look for a motive into the shooting.

Police say 21-year-old Nasir Best of Dundalk, Maryland, approached the White House complex, took a gun from his bag and started shooting.

Secret Service agents returned that fire, killing him.

Inflation spiked recently as energy prices surged because of the war with Iran.

On the board of the Fed governors, former chair Jerome Powell.

Meanwhile, stocks rose last week.

For the week, the Dow was up 2.4 percent, the Nasdaq up 0.5 percent, and the S&P 500 up 1.1 percent.
