Today we're talking about layoff anxiety.
If that's something you've been experiencing, call our hotline at 347-RING-TIU to tell us about it.
It's clearly something that's been keeping a lot of people up at night.
That was Lucifia, Daniela, and Reg from New York.
And Melody Wilding, who you might remember from the top of the episode.
Melody talked about that moment 10 years ago when she got the phone call from HR telling her, sorry, but we're letting you go.
Oh, interesting.
What was your role and what industry were you in?
Today, Melody is an executive coach with a background as a therapist and social worker.
She helps clients navigate their careers with the kind of insight she wishes she had back then.
And so I called her up to give us some tips on how to prepare practically for layoffs, if they do happen, like an emergency plan that you hope you won't ever need.
Melody's first big tip?
Collect as much information as you can.
Yeah, talk about that.
Because once you have those conversations with the managers, yeah, what are you supposed to do with that information?
That seems key.
Yeah, when I listen to you talking about this, I'm like, okay, that makes sense.
But there is also a part of me that feels like it's a little icky to have to go around showing your value to folks, right?
So how do you communicate that without sounding like you're bragging or like just feeling like you're going around annoying folks saying how great you are and, you know, showing off your accomplishments?
Can you give me an example?
