NPR has not independently confirmed these reports.

But Jared Holt, an online extremism analyst with Open Measures, says writings and social media accounts believed to be associated with Allen paint a different picture.

Holt says that unlike some of the prior assassination attempts against Trump, the writings do not indicate that Allen was immersed in extreme or conspiracist information systems online.
