I don't like that motif very much.
Like this young woman has to do this thing for her brothers.
That's her job.
Yeah, for these whingy little brothers who, honestly, I wanted to bitch slap as I was writing them because there's not much about them, to be fair.
They're just sort of in the background.
But what actually is cool about her story is that in doing that, starting off out of a sense of duty, but finding herself and her power as she goes through this journey.
She returns someone different.
Because she's gone through it.
So although the reasons for going are like that, there is an evolution of self that comes out of it, which is pretty, pretty awesome.
It is, but it was very much in a sort of sense of like personal empowerment and a sort of like sense of her becoming her own self, you know, cause she's also sort of a teenager probably in terms of age.
So, you know, some of these, a lot of these people in these stories are probably teenagers or young adults.
I mean, being a teenager is hard enough.
I don't know if you could tell that.
No, I mean, and that's the thing.
So this is a folk tale.
It's passed down by oral tradition between the tribes in this region.
So how I've got my hands on it is there was a woman in the sort of 60s, 50s who went to the Basotho people and recorded their tales there.
In the original language.
And she was from that area.
That's my source material for it.
