He's sturdy, strong.

Everybody saw the way he played.

What you don't see when I'm in the building, Bob, and you know this better than anybody because of the amount of hockey you watch, the TV screen follows the puck, right?

But you don't see everything else that's going on.

So off the puck,

His smarts to be above the play.

He's kind of calculating.

He'll lurk and he'll pounce.

The way that he approaches the game with super elite.

I'm going to tell you something that's probably going to ruffle some feathers, though.

Verhoff isn't dropping to three.

He's going to be number two still.

And why?

Because as many points that McKenna put up for me offensively, he was too much one and done along the wall.

A lot of length with his stick.

But, you know, if he chipped the puck to space and he didn't get there right away, he doesn't have that grind to his game.

And people are going to think I'm being hypercritical because he scored all these points.

But I need still to see more growth in his game off the puck.

And I would say that his detail defensively has improved probably 25% to 30% from the beginning of the year.

But there's still some things that I'm not so sure translate 100% to being a top-line player sooner than later.
