When you talk about trying to prevent people from peacefully assembling, sending masked agents and unmarked cars,

You don't even know who they are to snap people off of streets, to kidnap Americans and others off the streets and hold them without a hearing, without habeas corpus.

I mean, that was actually one of the reasons why the colonists rose up, is because of British soldiers snatching people off the streets and holding them without hearing.

Habeas corpus was one of the fundamental aspects of the Constitution and why we became a nation.

What I think is that we are at an inflection point where we can build a coalition to resist what Donald Trump is doing, because so much of what he's doing is not libertarian.

So much of what he's doing is not conservative, fiscal and otherwise.

So much of what he's doing is not ending the endless wars, not respecting people's freedom of speech and right to assemble.

So that allows us to go out to Americans and to folks who may have voted for him in the past,

Right.

And for a variety of reasons and to pull people back in.

Well, at the same time, knowing the difference between those who voted and supported him because of racism, bigotry and misogyny.

Right.

And never, never creating a permission structure around that, holding very, very firm on those issues.

Right.

But going to those who voted for him for other reasons, frustration, their life didn't turn out well.

Their children are dying of fentanyl, a lot of frustration and anger out there in this country for other reasons, and trying to pull those folks back into our coalition.

That is my task as an elected official, which I know is a different task than other folks, but that's what I'm working hard to do.

Yeah, we're totally in a new season.

And I think if we do this the right way, if we have the right leadership, the right approach, authenticity, you know, I think we could end up in one of our periods of enlightenment.

I think there could be a period of progressive enlightenment in our country post-Trump.
